Batavia Windmill City Festival caters to all

Batavia's four-day Windmill City Festival offers a little something for everyone, from Friday's Windmill Whirl 5K to Saturday's pet parade to karaoke, a diaper derby, music and food.

The fun continues 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Riverwalk in down Batavia.

"We have a ton of fun events - truly, we offer something for every age group," Kari Felkamp, director of marketing for the park district, said earlier this week.

On Friday, runners had a chance to watch the sunset and jog down a new trail along the Fox River in the Windmill Whirl 5K. The race started at 7 p.m. at City Hall Plaza.

Saturday's pet parade starts at 10 a.m., and people can bring their pets of any kind to march in the street. You must register between 9:15 and 9:50 a.m. at the main stage.
