New entrance might make it easier to get in, out of Allstate Arena parking lot

It may soon be easier to get in and out of the Allstate Arena parking lot for sporting events and concerts, with the planned construction of a new Mannheim Road entrance.

The plan calls for a four-lane paved roadway with a median that leads into the stadium's east lot from Mannheim, making for "more of a grand entrance," Rosemont Mayor Brad Stephens said.

The village board approved a $416,553 contract with Orange Crush LLC this week to pour concrete for the new entrance lanes - a project that's expected to start right away. The village already has the necessary permits from the Illinois Department of Transportation and Metropolitan Water Reclamation District.

The new lanes will be on the site of a former gas station, an area in the stadium's parking lot that is barricaded off and primarily used for parking for traffic control officers.

An existing welcome sign with digital panel will be relocated to the west parking lot, near the Lunt Avenue entrance, and a new sign will be installed at the Mannheim entrance, Stephens said. The village board is expected to approve a separate contract for the new sign.

The project is expected to be complete by September.
