Rauner names ex-DuPage chairman to top Tollway board post

SPRINGFIELD - Gov. Bruce Rauner has appointed a prominent Republican from DuPage County to the top spot on the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority board.

The governor announced Friday that Robert Schillerstrom is the Tollway board's next chairman. He'll replace current Chairwoman Paula Wolff, who was appointed to the job by former Gov. Pat Quinn in 2009.

Schillerstrom is a former DuPage County Board chairman who unsuccessfully sought the Republican nomination for governor in 2010.

He will make $36,077 a year leading oversight of the northeastern Illinois network of pay roads used by 1.4 million commuters daily. Rauner had appointed Schillerstrom as a tollway director late last month.

Rauner also named Steve Kim as a $46,960-a-year member of the Human Rights Commission.

Kim was the 2014 running mate of Rauner rival Dan Rutherford. Rutherford was the former state treasurer whose hopes for governor faded after a former employee accused him of sexual harassment.
