WW South pulls even with Glenbard North

Wheaton Warrenville South defeated Glenbard North 3-2 in baseball on Monday.

The Tigers (11-12, 9-3) held off a late Glenbard North (15-7, 9-3) rally to pull into a first-place tie with the Panthers in the DuPage Valley Conference. Austin Polezoes allowed only 3 hits in a complete-game performance. Justin Kelly and Ben Flores each had 2 hits and an RBI. Sam Ledbetter and Zach Heck drove in runs for Glenbard North.

Montini 4, Hampshire 3:

Adam Kenny's solo home run in the bottom of the 11th inning won the game for the Broncos (12-11). Trailing 3-0, Montini scored once in the sixth and twice in the seventh to send it to extra innings. Nick Malik and Jack Gerberich had 2 hits. Alex Luka pitched 5 scoreless innings of 1-hit ball to win in relief.

Wheaton North 2, Naperville North 0:

Zach Colangelo pitched his second straight DuPage Valley Conference shutout for the Falcons (7-15, 3-9), striking out seven in a 2-hitter. Charles Robin went 2-for-4 with a double and drove in both runs.

Naperville Central 5, Lake Park 2:

Bobby McMillen went 3-for-3 with a double and RBI, and Billy Oliver drove in 2 more runs for the Redhawks (10-12, 4-8) in their DuPage Valley Conference win. Winning pitcher Ryan Eiermann struck out 8 in 6 innings to earn the win while Mike Mlotek closed with a scoreless seventh to notch the save.

Neuqua Valley 6, Plainfield North 4:

Trailing 4-3, the Wildcats (18-4) scored 3 runs in the top of the seventh inning to win for the 11th straight time. Nolan Hicks doubled home 2 runs to tie the game and Zach Herdman singled home the go-ahead run. Matt Gould also had 2 RBI. Kevin Hutt pitched 2 innings of relief to pick up the win.

Waubonsie Valley 6, Batavia 5:

With the score tied and the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh of the Upstate Eight crossover, Brandon Petersen was hit by a pitch to give the Warriors (18-3, 13-1) their 10th straight victory. Quinton Zielke was the winning pitcher in relief of Preston Everts, who worked into the seventh inning.

Addison Trail 3, Morton 1:

The Blazers (8-16, 6-9) swept in the West Suburban Gold behind Nick Fugarino's 3-hitter. After Morton surged to a 1-0 lead in the top of the fifth, Addison Trail scored twice in the bottom of the inning. Jake Atiyeh went 2-for-3 with a double and RBI.

Glenbard West 8, York 2:

A 5-run top of the seventh inning broke open the West Suburban Silver victory for the Hilltoppers (12-11, 5-7). Will Simoneit, Arno Curtis and Billy Becker drove in 2 runs in support of winning pitcher Sam Kaske. Sam Craggs went 2-for-4 with 2 RBI for York (9-15, 6-6).

Wheaton Academy 11, Fenton 1:

Chris Johnson homered and Luis Ramos and David Thrasher combined for 5 RBI as the Warriors (16-6, 10-2) cruised to the Metro Suburban Conference win. Winning pitcher Jake Lindstedt struck out six and walked none in 5 innings.

St. Francis 8, Aurora Christian 6:

Aurora Christian scored 5 runs in the bottom of the seventh but the Spartans (14-7) held on to win. Tim Lilly and Jason Sullivan each had 2 RBI. Sullivan, Will Purdom and Nick Dama had 2 hits apiece. Michael O'Keefe pitched into the sixth inning to get the win.

Downers South 3, Hinsdale South 0:

Ty McCulloch pitched a 5-hitter with 8 strikeouts and 2 walks for the Mustangs (18-3), who improved to 12-0 in the West Suburban Gold. Zach Radde went 3-for-3 with an RBI.
