Police: Montgomery man's kick killed small dog

A Montgomery man faces charges after he kicked a small dog while arguing with his girlfriend in Aurora, fatally injuring the pup, officials said.

Aurora police responded to the call at about 5:45 p.m. Saturday on the 1700 block of Felten Road, according to Aurora spokesman Dan Ferrelli.

Cornelio J. Anaya, 23, was in the middle of a domestic situation with a 21-year-old woman when the woman's dog, a Shih Tzu and poodle mix, walked into the room, he said.

After being kicked, the dog collapsed, trembled and died, Ferrelli said. Anaya was charged with a felony count of cruelty to animals.
