Academy at Forest View: A successful alternative school

At The Academy at Forest View, teachers, assistants clinicians and administrators work together to provide students individual and group counseling in a therapeutic day school environment.

Launched officially in 1992, the school meets students where they're at intellectually, socially and emotionally, assigning them to classes that address their specific needs and engaging them every period of the day to help them successfully navigate high school and become independent adults.

The program's structured system of high expectations and one-on-one support has helped change the trajectory of education for dozens of students through the years, and, in recent years, has seen attendance and success rates climb. Lee DeWyze, the winner of American Idol's ninth season, is among the school's successful graduates.
