Lauret delivers as Libertyville tops Lakes

Daily Herald report

Jessie Lauret is known more for her speed, ability to slap-hit and drive the softball and serve as a catalyst at the top of Libertyville's batting order.

But the junior showed off her pitching ability in the Wildcats' 10-7 win over host Lakes in a North Suburban Conference crossover Thursday.

Lauret, who's committed to Purdue, pitched 2 effective innings in relief.

"Jessie did a great job coming in and changing the tone of the game," coach Elissa Wisniewski said after her Wildcats improved to 10-3. "Lakes was getting in a rhythm and Jess came out and did a great job of hitting her spots and changing speeds."

Michaela Mooney was 4-for-4 with a double and 4 RBI to lead the Wildcats' offense. Winning pitcher Hannah Heraty helped her own cause by going 2-for-2 with a double, triple and 3 RBI, and Madi Dembinski was 2-for-4 with 2 RBI.
