Camacho in command for Elk Grove

Christian Camacho helped Elk Grove outlast Grayslake Central in nonconference baseball on Saturday as the Grenadiers won 3-2 in 8 innings.

Camacho pitched all 8 of those innings for Elk Grove, allowing 2 earned runs in the second inning and nothing after. He struck out 11 and walked none while giving up 6 hits.

Sean Fege came up with the big hit in the eighth for Elk Grove (4-3), a double which scored Brandon Post, and Camacho had 2 of the Grens' 6 hits.

Christian Liberty sweeps: The Chargers stayed perfect in the Northeastern Athletic Conferene by taking a pair from Rockford Christian Life, 1-0 and 9-3.

Senior Tom Keplar tossed a compete-game 1-hitter with 11 strikeouts to lift Christian Liberty (4-3, 3-0) in the first game, and Jimmy Cunnningham finished the day with 3 hits and 2 RBI.

Hoffman Estates sweeps at Larkin:

Brandon Harris went 3-for-4 with a triple and 3 RBI to set the tone as the visiting Hawks erupted for 18 hits in 5 innings to claim a nonconference victory in the first game, and Hoffman rolled to a 16-6 decision in the second game.

In Game 1, Ryan Ward struck out seven and allowed 2 earned runs to the the victory for Hoffman Estates, which got 3 hits from Devis Willis and 2 apiece from Will Herbert, Jeff Mayes, Matt Roesch, Stephan Bonilla and Ward.

In Game 2, Kevin Howell and Doug Rathje had 4 hits apiece, while Mayes, Willis and Lucas Barnes each had 3.

Howell finished the day 7-for-9 with 4 RBI and 6 runs scored.

Rolling Meadows 4, Streamwood 0: Terry Moran tossed 6 shutout innings, Hank Holm and Brett Gibson doubled and the Mustangs took advantage of 6 Sabres miscues to earn a nonconference victory.

Barrington 8, Whitney Young 7: Anthony DeLaurentis, Jake Petersen and Mitch Pfeiffer homered, and Jake Coon and Jacob Chapman had doubles to power Barrington.

Luke Johnson picked up a save as the Broncos prevailed in dramatic fashion. Whitney Young had the bases loaded with 1 out, when a line drive to third was snared and Whitney Young's runner at first base was doubled off the bag.

Loyola 11, Hersey 1 (5 inn.): Ramblers starter Neil Udelhofen and reliever Poggioli allowed Hersey (1-3-1) just 3 singles while generating 9 hits of their own as host Loyola claimed a nonconference win.

Glenbard North 5, Conant 3: The host Cougars had a hard time against Panthers starter Sam Ledbetter, who allowed 5 hits in 6⅓ innings as Glenbard North won a nonconference matchup.

Matt Fauth was a standout for Conant (2-3), going 3-for-4 with a homer and 2 RBI.

Palatine 3, Bartlett 2: Alexander Breytenbach allowed 6 hits and 1 earned run with 6 strikeouts to help the Pirates (3-4) win at Bartlett. Chris Refka pitched the seventh inning to get a save as Bartlett stranded 10.

Dundee-Crown 8, Schaumburg 7: Christian Poulsen finished 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and an RBI, but the host Chargers made the most of 6 hits and 3 Saxons errors to pick up a nonconference decision.

Christian Spitelli had 2 of Schaumburg's 9 hits, and the Saxons also drew 7 walks.

Buffalo Grove 7, Niles West 5: The host Bison did all their scoring in the second, third and fourth innings to net a nonconference victory.

John Carpinelli had a pair of hits for Buffalo Grove, which drew 6 hits and took advantage of 4 errors by Niles West to make a compete-game winner of Adam Apel (10 hits, 2 earned runs).

Antioch 12, Wheeling 3: The visiting Sequoits sent 7 runs across the in first inning, while the Wildcats couldn't find the big inning against Antioch starter Justin Stender (6 IP, 7 hits, 1 ER).

Nathan Cooney, Alec Gaffin and Marty Falkiner each doubled for Wheeling (4-3).

Leyden sweeps Morton: The Eagles won their first two games of the season, both of them against West Suburban Gold foe Morton.

Hector Herrera earned a victory in relief in Game 1 as Leyden won 8-7, and he also went 4-for-4 at the plate. Jacob Nunez double and tripled, and Jorge Hernandez delivered an RBI single to put the Eagles ahead in the seventh inning.

In the second game, Hernandez doubled twice as Leyden (2-4, 2-0) pounded out 16 hits in a 15-5, five-inning decision to make a winner of starter Michael Wilms.
