Police: Man crashed car, fought with officer
A Beach Park man is facing charges after crashing a car and then fighting with a Zion police officer, authorities said.
Alec H. Adolphs, 21, of the 10000 Block of Crissy Avenue, was arrested Tuesday afternoon.
An officer tried to stop Adolph's car after seeing him driving fast on 33rd Street near Gilboa Avenue, according to a news release. The officer also saw Adolphs "restraining" a front-seat passenger, the release said.
The officer chased Adolphs, who crashed the car in a wooded area on the 3200 block of Lebanon Avenue, police said.
Adolphs then punched a woman who had been in the car and fought with the officer, police said. During the fight, Adolphs grabbed a flashlight off the officer's belt and hit him with it, police said.
The officer eventually prevailed and arrested Adolphs. The officer wasn't seriously hurt, police said.
The charges against Adolphs include: aggravated unlawful restraint, aggravated domestic battery and aggravated battery to a peace officer.
