SHARM EL-SHEIKH, Egypt (AP) - Egypt's prime minister says investment in the country at a three-day economic conference have reached $36.2 billion.
Ibrahim Mahlab said Sunday the figure covered contracts that had been signed and were ready to be implemented. He didn't detail the contracts.
A tear-eyed Mahlab said his country is grateful to the world and allies for supporting the Egyptian economy.
Four Gulf countries also pledged at the opening of the conference $12.5 billion in a bundle of aid and investment money.
Mahlab said another $23.2 billion were raised at the conference in terms of projects to be paid for by the government later, as well as grants.
