Endorsement: Henley for Volo Village President

Volo residents will choose a new president for the first time in 22 years when they head to the polls April 7. Current President Burnell Russell - the only president in village history - has decided to run for village trustee. Voters will choose his replacement president from two candidates: Stephen Henley and Zach Steffens. The winner inherits a village moving in a positive direction. The village has hired an administrator in Mike May who has helped put the town on very sound financial footing. The next big project facing Volo is bringing Lake Michigan water to residents. The village has been approved for membership in the Central Lake County Joint Action Water Agency and will soon begin the process of funding the project. As a member of the village board since 2009, Henley has a great grasp of the work that lies ahead and is endorsed. Henley has a clear vision of the direction the village needs to go with retail, commercial and housing development. We encourage Steffens to continue to be active. He is passionate about improving the quality of life for young families in the village and that's something Volo should continue to strive for.
