Long Grove plans downtown events in March
With the return of March and St. Patrick's Day approaching, the village of Long Grove is leaving winter behind and once again staging a variety of events to draw people to the historic downtown.
Ice Meltin' Blues This Weekend
Melt your winter blues away at the Village Tavern, 135 Old McHenry Road), Illinois's oldest operating tavern/restaurant, with a weekend of live blues music Saturday and Sunday, March 7 and 8. Studebaker John and the Hawks will be hosting the opening lunch from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, while Demetria Taylor Blues Band hosts two dinner shows from 6 -7:30 p.m. and 8:30-10 p.m. Sunday, the Rockin' Johnny Blues Band, featuring Mary Lane, will perform from 1-5 p.m. A $10 cover will be charged on Saturday night. St. Patrick's Day party starts now
The McNulty Irish Dancers will perform at Paddy's on the Square on Saturday, March 7 and Saturday, March 14 from 2-3 p.m. The Village Tavern will have a St. Patrick's Party with R. J. Express performing live music from 6:30-10:30 p.m. Saturday, March 14, and with the traditional corned beef and cabbage washed down with green beer.
You can pick up special gifts from Irish specialty shops. Paddy's on the Square, 228 Robert Parker Coffin Road, offers music, clothing and gift items from Ireland, while the Irish Boutique, 434 Robert Parker Coffin Road, is home to a selection of Irish-made jewelry, English and Irish foods, Waterford crystal and Belleek china.
And the Rivellino School of Art, 216 Robert Parker Coffin Road, in partnership with Paddy's on the Square, is doing a series of six classes running through March 21. They include ones for adults only, BYOB, for all ages, and parent-child. Information is at www.rivellinoschool.com.
