Oakton officials cut the ribbon on Lee center
Oakton Community College officials and local dignitaries cut the ribbon Wednesday on the new $39 million Margaret Burke Lee Science and Health Careers Center in Des Plaines.
The three-story, 93,000-square-foot building opened for classes in January, the culmination of Oakton's largest construction project since its Des Plaines campus opened in 1980. The facility houses the school's anatomy and physiology, biology, chemistry, earth science, medical laboratory technology, nursing, physics and physical therapy assistant programs.
The building was named in honor of retiring college President Margaret Lee, who plans to step down in June after 30 years at Oakton - the last 20 as president.
