Bulls lose F Gibson to left ankle injury

CHICAGO (AP) - Forward Taj Gibson has left the Chicago Bulls' game against Minnesota with a left ankle injury.

Gibson rolled his ankle late in the first quarter and was replaced by Nikola Mirotic. The Bulls then announced that Gibson would not return to Friday night's game.

The short-handed Bulls already were without All-Star Pau Gasol and point guard Derrick Rose. Gasol was out with an illness, and Rose had surgery Friday for a medial meniscus tear in his right knee.

Coach Tom Thibodeau confirmed at the shootaround that Gasol would not play. The 7-foot forward is averaging 18.4 points and 12.1 rebounds.

Rose is averaging 18.4 points and 5.0 assists.
