Trinity Choir and Band Perform March 22 at St. Andrew Lutheran Church Mundelein

The Trinity International University Concert Choir and Symphonic Band will present a combined performance at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Mundelein on Sunday, March 22, at 4:00 pm. The concert is free and open to the public.

The choir and band will perform music from their recent Spring Break Ensemble Tour as well as other selections.

The Concert Choir is Trinity's premier choral organization. This co-ed group, which typically stands in a mixed rather than sectional formation, has a repertoire that includes chant, 16th-century polychoral masterpieces, late 20th-century music, spirituals, and contemporary gospel settings. The group, which travels both nationally and internationally, has more than 50 members and welcomes both music and non-music majors to participate.

Trinity College has a 41-year history of band music. The original pep band that assembled to play at athletic events grew into a concert organization in 1970 and began touring nationally in 1976 and internationally in 1990. Its core repertoire consists of the classics of concert band literature, including original pieces for band and skillful transcriptions and arrangements. Both music and liberal art majors make up the ensemble that serves to promote a lifetime of service to church, school, and community through music making.

Dr. Paul J. Satre, Professor of Music and University Organist at Trinity, will conduct the choir. He is a graduate of TIU and the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago and has conducted and toured with collegiate choirs throughout the United States and internationally. He is an active performer on the piano and organ, as well as the principal organist at the Moody Church in Chicago.

Professor Charles King directs the Symphonic Band at Trinity. He holds masters degrees in Music History (Northwestern University), Educational Studies (University of Illinois at Chicago), and Historical Theology (Wheaton College), and served as a pastoral minister of music for many years. As a trombonist, he has played in bands, orchestras, quintets and other ensembles.

St. Andrew Lutheran Church is located at 10 South Lake Street in Mundelein. All are welcome to attend and enjoy this special music event.
