Retiring Elk Grove park director Brottman may pursue job with Cubs

Elk Grove Park District Executive Director Mike Brottman's last day on the job is Friday, after which, he says, he has some opportunities for part-time work for the Chicago Cubs.

Brottman announced last year plans to step down after 10 years at the helm of the park district and a total of 33 years working in parks and recreation.

He was recognized with a proclamation at Tuesday's Elk Grove Village board meeting, where he thanked village officials for having a good working relationship with him. Mayor Craig Johnson, a fan of the Cubs, mentioned Brottman's next possible career stop.

Brottman did not indicate what kind of role he might be taking in the Cubs organization.

Tom Busby, currently the district's director of business services, was selected over 15 other candidates as Brottman's successor.
