Images: Record setting low temperatures

Record setting cold weather hit the suburbs Thursday. The official morning temperature at O'Hare Airport was 8 degrees below zero, breaking a record set in 1936. Temperatures in the suburbs reached as low as 11 degrees below zero.

  Samira Bamberger of Geneva has to repeatedly throw a water bucket to the ground to break up the ice while feeding and tending to the turkeys at Garfield Farm in LaFox Thursday morning. She said she's worked there for about a year, and the subzero temperatures didn't dampen her enthusiasm about being there. "I love it here, it's my favorite job I've ever had," she said. As a staff member she says she does a little bit of everything there and the cold doesn't change what they do except to keep them inside more working on research, paperwork and the like.
