Gurnee Days seeks nominations:

Gurnee Days organizers are putting out the call for nominations to honor an individual or couple during the festival. Gurnee Days Corp. officials said nominations must be for a living individual or couple who has given selfless service to the village. In particular, those who are honored made self sacrifices or performed praiseworthy actions that went unnoticed or unremembered by the public. To qualify for the nomination, someone must have made a meaningful contribution to the village for a minimum of 10 years. The individual or couple selected will be honored at a testimonial dinner Thursday, Aug. 6. The honoree also will serve as grand marshal of the Gurnee Days parade Sunday, Aug. 9. The nomination is to be submitted using an official form and must be postmarked on or before March 23. Nomination forms may be picked up at Gurnee village hall, Gurnee Park District headquarters on Old Grand Avenue or at gurneedays.com.
