NIU unveils Huskie Stadium anniversary logo

With the 2015 football season also marking the 50th anniversary of Huskie Stadium, Northern Illinois University officials unveiled a 50th Anniversary logo to help kick off a season-long celebration of the historic facility.

The logo was created for NIU Athletics by Rick Cerrone Communications and graphic artist Michael Macchione. It conveys an image of the west grandstand as it appeared when the stadium opened on Nov. 6, 1965 and incorporates the Huskies' current primary logo along with the number “50.”

“Huskie Stadium has been the scene of so many memorable moments in NIU's football history,” said NIU Associate Vice-President and Director of Athletics Sean T. Frazier. “I think all Huskie fans – those who have been here for many of the past 50 years and our more recent followers – are really going to enjoy this 50-year anniversary. This commemorative logo is just the first step in what I know will be an outstanding celebration of NIU history throughout the 2015 season.”

The Huskies own a 163-96-2 home record all-time and have won 30 of their last 31 games there.
