Chicago area attractions close because of weather

CHICAGO (AP) - The blizzard conditions in Chicago are leading to some closures.

Officials with the Shedd Aquarium and Adler Planetarium announced the facilities along Lake Michigan would be closing early at 1 p.m. on Sunday. Shedd officials say pre-ordered tickets will be honored at a future date.

In the suburbs, Brookfield Zoo closed for the day, which is rare.

The National Weather Service issued blizzard and storm warnings for much of northern Illinois throughout Sunday. More than a foot of snow was expected in some areas around Chicago from the slow-moving powerful storm.
