Chicago Blackhawks Assistant Equipment Manager Clint Reif's death was a suicide, authorities said Tuesday.

The DuPage County Coroner's office released a short statement saying Reif, 34, of Lombard, took his own life Dec. 21 when he was found unresponsive in his home.

The announcement comes after the coroner's office conducted toxicology tests to determine the cause and manner of Reif's death.

Reif had worked behind the scenes in equipment management for the Blackhawks for several years after also working for the Chicago Wolves and the Orlando Solar Bears.

He leaves behind a wife and four children.
