Beach Park teen dies after being hit by vehicle

A Beach Park teenager died after he was hit Monday by a vehicle on Skokie Highway, North Chicago police said.
A preliminary investigation shows a vehicle driven by Roberto Gomez, 17, first struck a cement center median on Skokie Highway. Gomez got out of his vehicle to assess the damage and was struck by a northbound vehicle driven by 54-year-old Luis Godoy of Park City, according to a news release.
Several accidents then occurred in an attempt to avoid the crash scene.
Gomez was taken to Lake Forest Hospital, where he died from his injuries.
The investigation is ongoing, and no one has been charged. The evidence suggests the crash was an "unfortunate accident," according to the police news release.
