Breen resigns from Lombard village board

Peter Breen has submitted his resignation from the Lombard village board in advance of taking on his new role as state representative for the 48th District.

"I want to thank the people of Lombard for trusting me with this responsibility," Breen said at his final village board meeting last week. "As we've been through some challenges here, we've got bigger ones going on at the state and I'm looking forward to getting down (to Springfield) to really try to tackle some of that."

Breen has served on the village board since 2011. He represented District 4, which is located on the northeast side of the village, and held the position of acting village president.

"We've been through the passing of a mayor, we've been through all sorts of difficulties ... but through it all we've maintained an atmosphere of collegiality and we've been able to disagree without being disagreeable for the most part," he said.

Breen's resignation will be effective Dec. 31. Constituents of District 4 may contact Village President Keith Giagnorio at (630) 620-5710 or giagnoriok@villageoflombard.org with any issues and concerns until the seat is filled.
