Dogs rescued from abandoned Kankakee house
KANKAKEE- Kankakee County animal control investigators have rescued three dogs from an abandoned rural house.
The (Kankakee) Daily Journal reports officials discovered last week that Butters, a 3-year-old yellow lab and her two puppies had been kept in the home without heat, much food or human contact for several months.
Officials say a volunteer donated money to cover the cost of the Butters' medications. The puppies have passed checkups and are up for adoption.
Animal Control Director Julie Boudreau says the case of Butters and her puppies is likely not the last.
She suggests that those looking for holiday gift ideas think of donating to the county's Animal Control and Adoption Center.
