Rosemont buys office building, but may not own it for long
The village of Rosemont is buying a seven-story office building, but it may not own it for long.
The village board on Wednesday approved the purchase of the former headquarters of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons at 6300 N. River Road for $4,675,000. Last weekend, the organization moved into its new 150,000-square-foot, 5-story office building down the block at 9400 W. Higgins Road.
Mayor Brad Stephens said village officials have spoken with a potential buyer for the old building. That person would move his business there and lease other offices out. Until that or any other deal happens, the village will hold onto the building.
The village is funding the purchase through a bank loan, and a closing is planned for February.
