Moylan appointed to new business panel

State Rep. Marty Moylan has been appointed to a newly-created state commission aimed at increasing the number of American and Illinois-made products procured and sold by the state.

The Support Your Neighbor Commission, which holds its first meeting Jan. 26, includes state legislators and members of business and labor in Illinois.

Moylan, a Des Plaines Democrat, sponsored legislation requiring the Illinois State Museum and other state facilities, such as gift shops in state parks, to have a section of their shops set aside specifically for the sale of products manufactured in the United States.

Commission members serve four-year terms and are unpaid besides expenses.
