Naperville Gives on #GivingTuesday

Naperville Gives, a collaborative giving platform, has joined #GivingTuesday, the national day of giving which coincides with the Thanksgiving Holiday and the kickoff of the holiday shopping season. Naperville Gives allows those that support Naperville to donate to their favorite charities all through one website - www.NapervilleGives.org - while inspiring individuals to take collective action to improve our community, give back to the local charities and causes they support, and raise as much money as possible within a 24-hour period.

Naperville Gives, which was started as a collaborative effort between two Naperville charities, Naperville CARES and I Support Community, will take place on #GivingTuesday Dec. 2 - the Tuesday after Thanksgiving.

Naperville Gives provides Naperville area charities and residents with an exciting and engaging way to participate in #GivingTuesday, a worldwide movement dedicated to giving, similar to how Black Friday and Cyber Monday have become days that are, today, synonymous with holiday shopping. Donating is made easy on www.NapervilleGives.org as it organizes participating Naperville area nonprofits onto one website, providing the information people need to select a cause, and make an online donation.

Marion Ruthig, founder and executive director of I Support Community, said, "In my experience Naperville area nonprofits look for ways to work together to benefit the community and each other. Naperville Gives is another great example of this collaborative effort. And, one the community can rally behind."

Currently over a dozen Naperville area nonprofit organizations have committed to participate in the initiative. Naperville CARES, I Support Community, Samaritan Interfaith Counseling Center, KidsMatter, DuPage PADS, Women at Risk International, Gigi's Playhouse and Respite Endowment Organization have all joined Naperville Gives, with another half dozen nonprofits expected to be online by #GivingTuesday.

"Naperville Gives reminds us that the spirit of the holiday giving season should be about community," said Angela Bender, Naperville CARES' marketing and communications associate, "The most meaningful gift we can give is the commitment to work together to help our neighbors in need."

Naperville Gives is sponsored by Sir Speedy Naperville, Whole Foods Market Naperville and Primrose School at Naperville Crossings.
