New boutique opening in Glen Ellyn

A new boutique promising clothing and accessories for women of all ages is scheduled to open next week in Glen Ellyn.

1 Happy Girl Boutique will offer women's clothing, shoes and accessories as well as gift items. The boutique already has an online shopping website and two stores, one in Lemont and the other in Saugatuck, Michigan.

The boutique's creative vision is spearheaded by a former model, 24-year-old Paige Schwartz. Besides offering brands such as Free People, it sells many handmade items.

“We handpick every item and we have a lot of handmade items, too, because my mom was originally a jewelry designer,” Schwartz said. “So we do our own headbands, we do our own jewelry and then we just started a clothing line.”

She said that's what sets her store apart from other boutiques.

“We don't want people to see themselves coming on the street,” Schwartz said. “We want everyone to have something special when they leave our store.”

The Glen Ellyn spot will be opening at 560 Crescent Blvd., next to Sign of the Whale Antiques. Schwartz said they expect to have their grand opening on Tuesday, Nov. 18, for Ladies Night Out.

Chocolaterie Stam, which sells fine European chocolates, previously was expected to open in the space, but the deal fell through, officials said.

Schwartz said Glen Ellyn is the “perfect town” for her business.

“It's a nice downtown with all the foot traffic and they have good restaurants,” she said. “There's a lot happening in the downtown area.”

Besides offering a wide variety of products, Dawn Schwartz, Paige's mother, said the boutique also can serve women of all ages.

“We can have three generations shopping here no problem,” Dawn Schwartz said.

“Like the grandma can come in with the mom and with the 12-year-old daughter and they will all walk out with something.”
