Viewers invited to tweet during live Senate debate on WTTW

The U.S. Senate candidates will debate live at 7 p.m. Wednesday on WTTW Channel 11's "Chicago Tonight" in a broadcast that will use Twitter to provide real-time viewer feedback.

Democratic U.S. Sen. Richard Durbin of Springfield and his challenger, Republican Jim Oberweis of Sugar Grove, will face off in their second debate, this one moderated by Phil Ponce before a live studio audience.

The debate also will be streamed live at wttw.com and carried on other networks around the state.

Viewers are encouraged to tweet questions and reactions using WTTW's Twitter handle, @wttw, and with the hashtag #ChicagoTonight.

In the first debate last week, the candidates in the Nov. 4 election talked about everything from gun rights to income taxes.

WTTW's candidate forums are underwritten in part by The City Club of Chicago.
