Turkey fryer safety tips at North Maine Fire Department open house

Firefighters with the North Maine Fire Department will be demonstrating turkey fryer safety tips during an open house Saturday.

By using a 30-quart turkey fryer, they will show "what not to do" when cooking a whole turkey or chicken, officials said in a news release.

They also will put on an auto extrication demonstration at noon.

The open house will feature displays from Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, Cook County Sheriff's police, Golf Maine Park District and Nicor Gas.

The event is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 9301 Potter Road, located in unincorporated Maine Township. For more information, call (847) 297-5020 or visit northmainefpd.org.
