Boys soccer: Fox Valley roundup Tuesday, Sept. 2

St. Edward 8, Hiawatha 0: Joe French served up a hat trick in the Green Wave's nonconference win at Greg True Field. The senior midfielder opened up with 2 goals in the opening moments while Alec Uscila scored twice in the second half. Alex Semler accounted for 1 goal and 1 assist and others scoring goals were Will Gastone, Gio Hinjosa. Austin Pfeiffer had 1 assist as the Wave (2-1) had 6 goals go unassisted. Matt Hesch made 1 save in net.

Elgin 6, CICS-Northtown 0: The Maroons (1-1) notched their first win of the season in the LaSallian Cup Tournament with 2 goals from Zach Erickson. Omar Gonzalaez managed 1 goal and 1 assist while Juan Flores, Oletian Ajayi and Jonthan Morales added 1 goal apiece. Herman Arce, Tony Rodriguez and Ulisses Dominguez all recorded an assist and Eleno Montez had 4 saves in net.

Streamwood 8, Westminster Christian 1: Seven different players scored and assisted for the Sabres (4-1) to win easily over the nonconference Warriors on the road. Rafa Gil led all scorers with a pair goals while Marcos Rojos tallied 2 assists. Alan Camarena finished with one of each and keeper Sergio Blanco finished with one save in goal.

Cary-Grove 3, Grayslake North 0: After going up early in the match 2-0, the Trojans (2-1) kicked off the Grant Invite with a win over Grayslake North. Mike Arenberg was the man of the hour, scoring twice for the Trojans including a dagger in the second half. Ethan Csoka managed 2 saves in goal for the shutout.

Harvest Christian 1, Schaumburg Christian 1: The Lions went up early in the first half thanks to a Cesar Velazquez goal from Raphael DeSouza but could not maintain the lead as an own goal tied the game. Noah Fox finished with 10 saves in goal.

Naperville Central 6, Bartlett 0: In the Best of the West tournament, the Hawks (0-3) found themselves down 3-0 at half and could not recover to stay winless. Keeper Jake Hasenstein saw plenty of action in goal finishing with 15 saves.

York 2, Huntley 0: The Red Raiders (0-3-1) couldn't muster any scoring at the Lake Park Invite as Michael Parks stopped 3 of the Dukes' 5 shots on net.

Belvidere 3, Hampshire 1: Peter Panagakos scored the lone Hampshire (0-3) goal in nonconference action but the Bucs scored twice in the second half for the win. Andy Pedersen made 15 saves in net for the Whip-Purs.

Barrington 2, CL South 0: Facing the hosting team at the Barrington Invite, the Gators (2-1) could not find the back of the net and suffer their first loss of the season. Dalton Kause was steady in goal, allowing two goals and getting 6 saves.
