Girls golf / Lake County roundup
Coming off a 16-3 season a year ago, Carmel Catholic's girls golf team continues to show no letup.
Juniors Alexa Amato and Kayla Ryan each shot a 41, as the Corsairs improved to 3-0 by posting a 175 in beating Palatine (214) at Palatine Hills Golf Course on Tuesday.
Carmel also counted Erin Kehoe's 45 and Daniella Savovich's 48.
Libertyville d. Highland Park: At Highland Park Golf Course, the visiting Wildcats shot a 178 to edge the Giants by 1 stroke.
Simone Mikaelian led Libertyville with a 40, followed by Megan Sturonas (43), Jessica Lovinger (47) and Katherine Stegman (48).
"Can't get any closer," coach Greg Pedersen said after his Wildcats improved to 5-0. "Our kids have been doing what it takes to get victories. Highland Park's kids are really improving."
Kelli Ono of Highland Park was the medalist with a 38.
Stevenson d. Warren: At Bittersweet, the Patriots shot a 186 to defeat the host Blue Devils (207).
Olivia Stomberg's 44 paced Stevenson, which also counted 46s from Surya Vijayasankar and Alexia Fidman and a 50 from Stephanie Namkoong.
Warren's Erica Price was the medalist with a 38.
Lake Forest d. Mundelein: At Countryside, Emily Young's 39 led the visiting Scouts (180 to victory.
Mundelein (199) received a 43 from Megan Wiese and a 49 from Jennifer Dimitriou.
Lake Zurich d. Lakes: At Countryside, Aine Mattera shot a winning 43 and the Bears (200) defeated the Eagles (269).
Lakes got a 55 from Gretchen Metzger.
