Arlington Heights police release photo of thief

Arlington Heights police have released a photo from a surveillance video of a man they say was part of a team that stole hundreds of dollars of food and merchandise from a Jewel store, and took more than $40 in cigarettes and Red Bull from a Mobil gas station that shares the same parking lot.

The thefts occurred about 9 p.m. Aug. 6 at the Jewel at 1860 S. Arlington Heights Road and the Mobil at 1880 S. Arlington Heights Road. The thieves are believed to have used a silver Chevrolet Trailblazer to flee, police said.

The offenders are described as a thin white male, early 20s, wearing a gray baseball cap, red shirt with ‘Family” on it, gray baggy shorts and black gym shoes. The second offender is described as a white male of medium build with brown hair and a short beard, wearing a light blue V-neck shirt, black shorts and black gym shoes.

Anyone having information can submit an anonymous tip by texting the keyword 847AHPD and a message to 847411(tip411) or can call Arlington Heights Crime Stoppers at (847) 590-STOP. Callers are guaranteed anonymity and may qualify for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
