Wauconda parks proposal:

The Wauconda Park District board will meet Tuesday to discuss a plan to expand the district's community center at Cook Park. The meeting is at 7 p.m. at the community center, 600 N. Main St. If they move forward, officials would ask voters to approve a $4.75 million loan for the project, possibly as soon as the Nov. 4 ballot. The proposal calls for a 10,000-square-foot addition to the 21-year-old building. Highlights could include an expanded fitness area, group fitness classrooms, and expanded dance room and an early-childhood classroom, officials have said. Officials say the extra space is needed because of the center's ever-increasing popularity.
