Naper Settlement plays host to Hometown Picnic

An old-fashioned picnic - complete with games, contests and even an apple pie competition - greeted visitors Saturday when Naper Settlement played host to its annual Hometown Picnic in the midst of bustling downtown Naperville.

Participants were invited to bring their own lunches to enjoy while touring the settlement's historic homes and businesses and taking part in games that included a penny-candy walk, egg relay race and hula hoop contest.

There was also a family singalong and a demonstration of the Joe Naper Fire Pumper.
