Iowa filmmaker to make Lincoln Tomb documentary

An Iowa filmmaker plans to make a documentary about Abraham Lincoln's tomb in Springfield, Illinois.

The State Journal-Register reports that filmmaker Chris Ryder is partnering with the Lincoln Monument Association on the project to mark the 150th anniversary of Lincoln's death.

Organizers will use a crowd-funding website to pay for the film. The video's maximum budget is $50,000.

Ryder is from Le Claire, Iowa. He says he came up with the idea for the documentary while watching YouTube videos about Lincoln's Tomb.

Ryder says the documentary will start with the arrival of Lincoln's funeral train in Springfield in 1865. It will include construction of the tomb, the attempted theft of Lincoln's body and the more than dozen times the body was moved due to a low water table.
