Durbin helped cause flood of immigrants

As a member of the "Gang of Eight" U.S., senators who are pushing for "immigration reform," Dick Durbin has played a major role in encouraging the current flood of Central American illegals across our border. He has done everything within his power to erase our border with Mexico and make sure existing immigration laws are not enforced.

The senator has hung the "Come on Up!" sign for prospective illegal immigrants from Mexico to Honduras, telling them they will have no problem crossing our border and becoming citizens. He did this by: voting to weaken our deportation laws; voting to block construction funds for the approved fence across our border; voting to bring in 400,000 new "guest workers" and providing them and their families with full benefits now and citizenship within five years; voting yes on providing federal funds for Chicago and other sanctuary cities; and voting against making English our official language.

While Senator Durbin has achieved his open border goal, he has created a disaster for our citizens. Entry level jobs are now filled by illegals from Guatemala and El Salvador. Only 47 percent of working adults in Illinois now have full-time jobs and their wages and benefits have been pushed down because illegal immigrants are working for less. Check it out with workers in Aurora, Elgin, Carpentersville, Marengo and Harvard and you'll get an earful.

You'll also see the senator's handiwork if visit the traffic court, unemployment office and emergency room of your hospital. Many are Latinos who can't speak English. As taxpayers, you are footing the bill for these social services in a state run by a governor who recently declared Illinois a "sanctuary state."

Be sure to thank Senator Durbin for a job well done when you go to the polls in November.
