Several Chicago 'L' riders robbed by armed men

Chicago police say two armed men robbed several passengers on an "L" train to the Loop from Midway International Airport.

Police spokesman Veejay Zala says the robberies occurred Wednesday afternoon as the Orange Line train traveled between the Halsted Street and Roosevelt Road stations southwest of the Loop. The men, who haven't been arrested, took a variety of items from the passengers. No one was hurt.

Chicago Transit Authority officials say they learned about the robbery after one victim alerted CTA workers at the Roosevelt station. CTA spokeswoman Catherine Hosinski says the train was held at the following station until police arrived, causing an eight-minute delay.

Zala says police are reviewing surveillance video in an effort to establish the suspects' identities.
