Geneva Library seeks to fill board vacancy

Applications are due July 31 for people interested in filling a vacancy on the Geneva Library board.

The appointee will replace Steve Andersson, who resigned last month.

The person chosen would fill in through April 2015. The remaining two years of Andersson's term will then be filled by election.

Candidates must be at least 18 years old, a registered voter and live in the library district.

An application form and information packet is available at the library's check-out desk, 127 W. James St.

Andersson was elected to the board in 2009 and 2013.

He stepped down because he is running for the state 65th House District seat in November. So far nobody is running against Andersson, a Republican. Sept. 4 is the last day people can file to run as a write-in candidate. Andersson will replace Republican Rep. Tim Schmitz, who is stepping down.
