Algonquin man killed in motorcycle crash in Marseilles

Marseilles police are investigating a motorcycle crash that left an Algonquin man dead, according to a joint news release from the Marseilles Police Department and the LaSalle County coroner's office.

Douglas Z. Peters, 43, was killed in the Saturday evening crash on East Bluff Street, the release said.

A preliminary investigation revealed Peters was driving westbound on U.S. 6 and failed to negotiate a curve, striking a guardrail, officials said.

Peters was airlifted to OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Ottawa, where he died at 8:10 p.m., officials said.

Attempts to reach the Marseilles Police Department Wednesday were unsuccessful. Meanwhile, the police department and LaSalle County coroner's office continue to investigate the crash.
