It didn't work then, won't work now

Apparently many people have forgotten how we got into Iraq (deception), and that there was an agreement in 2008, signed by President Bush and Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki that called for the end of occupation in 2011: The US-Iraq Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) between the U.S. and Iraq in 2008 established that U.S. combat forces would withdraw by June 2009, and all U.S. forces would be completely out of Iraq by December 2011. Any subsequent modification to that was rejected by Iraq.

Those who blame President Obama for extricating us from Iraq only to see the country fall into chaos are willfully blind or conveniently ignorant. Battle and bombs have cost us dearly in lives and treasure, yet some seem to believe endless war is a solution. Iraq was never going to be stable; the tyrannical dictator who held that fractious country together, albeit with brutal force, is gone. Endless occupation and battle is not the answer - it did not work in 10 years - yet old warmongers assert that somehow it will work now. They stand on the sidelines, critical of the results of the ill-considered invasion/occupation that they once championed.
