Habitat wraps third post-tornado home in Gifford

GIFFORD, Ill. - Habitat For Humanity plans to dedicate the last of three homes it has built in an eastern Illinois town hit hard by a tornado last November.

Habitat said Wednesday the home on Plum Street in Gifford was built along with the group Paxton Area Churches. Paxton is a small town northwest of Gifford. Both are about 25 miles north of Champaign.

Gifford was among several Illinois towns hit by tornadoes last Nov. 17. About 70 homes in the town of 970 were destroyed. Another 40 were badly damaged.

Habitat said Ben and Christy Calhoun will move into the latest home. They each spent 250 hours working on it.
