Palatine District 15 provides free breakfasts for eligible students, community members

Palatine Township Elementary District 15 will offer free breakfasts to eligible students and residents under 18 beginning June 30.

The district will serve the breakfasts Mondays through Thursdays (except July 3). Depending on the week, the meals will be available at one of six buildings: John G. Conyers Learning Academy, Jane Addams, Kimball Hill, Lake Louise, Lincoln and Virginia Lake elementary schools. For a list of schedules, visit Ccsd15.net.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture requires schools with at least 50 percent of students who participate in free and reduced-price lunches provide at least one free meal per day if those campuses hold summer activities.

"Lack of nutrition during the summer months is a serious concern, and these meals will meet nutrition standards set forth by the USDA," School Nutrition Services Director Bobbie Desprat said in a statement.

The first breakfast is scheduled for 7:10 to 7:35 a.m. Monday, June 30, for any community member regardless of income at the Conyers academy, 2800 Central Road, Rolling Meadows. Qualified students only will be served from 7:45 to 8:05 a.m.

For details, contact the district's School Nutrition Services at (847) 963-3929.
