Man charged in Chicago landlord's shooting death
Chicago police say a man has been arrested in connection with the shooting of a businessman killed earlier this year.
The Chicago Police Department on Friday announced murder charges against Tyneil Washington. The 29-year-old man shot and killed a landlord collecting rent checks during an armed robbery attempt in March, authorities said.
Sixty-six-year-old Herbert Goode was a business owner in Chicago's Gold Coast district. He was shot in the chest while standing near his car.
Chicago police arrested Washington as a result of a joint effort with police in Champaign and the U.S. Marshal's Service. A sketch of the man was distributed across the Midwest, and Champaign police learned that he was in their area.
Chicago police say Washington appeared in bond court Friday.
