Memorial Day not just another day off

Posted5/26/2014 5:01 AM

I would like to take my time to remember the millions of fallen soldiers who have served humanity 24/7, 365 days a year, throughout our country's history. These powerful men and women sacrificed their lives, their wealth and their time for the sake of their country and nation.

As a Muslim-American, I feel as though it is my duty to honor and salute these fallen soldiers this Memorial Day for their dedication to protect and defend our civil liberties.

Today, take some time out to recognize and salute the millions of veterans who have fallen while serving America. Let's truly celebrate Memorial Day as a national holiday for our fallen heroes and not consider it just another day off.
