Softball / Lake County roundup

Jenny Behan and Carmel Catholic's softball team played long ball again Saturday.

Behan delivered her sixth 2-homer game of the season, as the Corsairs defeated Marist 8-6 to salvage a split in the East Suburban Catholic Conference doubleheader.

Behan, who drove in 4 runs, has 17 home runs this season. Kathleen Felicelli also homered for Carmel (17-17, 8-10), which has 49 home runs. Felicelli finished 3-for-3, as she also doubled twice, walked, scored 3 runs and collected 3 RBI. Sarah Koesser was 3-for-3 as well for the Corsairs.

Marist won the opener 13-2.

Mundelein 19, Niles West 5: Maddie Zazas and Abbey Rosenow led a 17-hit attack for the visiting Mustangs in their regular-season finale.

Zazas and Rosenow each went 4-for-4. Zazas doubled twice, while Amanda Diaz tripled. Mundelein (23-12) got 2 hits apiece from Maria DeVito, Maggie Mahar, Diaz and Danielle Beelow.

Antioch 6, Loyola 2: At The Ballpark in Rosemont, Hannah Cook recorded 9 strikeouts, and she and her teammates made the most of 6 hits.

Antioch finished the regular season 16-16.

York 15, Grayslake Central 1: At The Ballpark in Rosemont, the Rams lost in five innings.

Shelby White, Jamie Brew and Teagan Truskowski had the only hits for Grayslake Central.
