Elgin police investigating home invasion

Elgin police are asking for any information about a home invasion in which several male victims received nonlife threatening injuries Friday afternoon.

Officers were dispatched at about 1:30 p.m. to the 200 block of Chaparral Circle to a report of a home invasion, Elgin Police Cmdr. Dan O'Shea said.

A perimeter was set up around the residence, which was searched by officers who determined the offenders had fled prior to the arrival of police, O'Shea said.

Some of the victims ran to a nearby store on East Chicago Street to call for help, he said. At least one of the victims is in his late teens or early 20s.

It's unclear what type of injuries the victims suffered, but none were gunshot-related, O'Shea said.

Detectives from the major investigation division are interviewing the victims, he said.

Anonymous tips or information can be provided to Elgin police via the crime line at (847) 695-4195 or texting 847411 and including ELGINPD at the beginning of the text, along with the message and/or tip information.
