Metra reports delays on Union Pacific North line due to derailment

Metra is reporting delays on the Union Pacific North line following a derailment in Waukegan, officials say.

Authorities said the delays are averaging between 10 minutes and 20 minutes following the overnight derailment near a train yard.

Officials added some trains are originating in Waukegan rather than taking off from Kenosha, the Metra website is reporting at metrarail.com.

The derailment has since been cleared, but work continues in the area.

Commuters traveling in both directions should expect minor delays this morning, as well as slow trains in the Waukegan area.
