Big trucks, food trucks come to Palatine Park District Saturday

Big trucks are coming to Palatine once again this year from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 3.

The Palatine Park District is holding the free event in the Family Aquatic Center Parking Lot, 340 E. Palatine Road. Parking will be available in the Community Center Parking Lot, 250 E. Wood St.

Food trucks are a new addition to the event this year. Purchase your breakfast, lunch or a sweet treat from the Toasty Cheese truck, Flirty Cupcakes on Wheels, or Babycakes Gourmet Pancakes.

This family event allows children of all ages the opportunity to see big trucks and vehicles up close. They will be able to sit in the driver's seat in some of the trucks. This year's event will also include goody bags for the first 500 children, free entry into the prize raffle and a craft provided by Lakeshore Learning.

The Palatine Park District partners with many local organizations and companies for the event. Big trucks gold partners for 2014 include: AuPairCare, CristalMe Rhinestone Apparel Inc., Daily Herald Media Group, Loving Care Animal Hospital, Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament and Premier Credit Union.

Groups currently scheduled to showcase their vehicles include: Groot Recycling, Palatine Police Department, Palatine Township Elementary School District 15, Village of Palatine Public Works Department, Palatine Fire Department, A Express Towing, Prairie Material, Palatine Township, Jewel-Osco, MBL Recycling, Rogner's Garage, Palatine Emergency Management Agency, SERVPRO, Wheeling Transportation and Palatine Park District.
