Buffalo Grove man admits to soliciting teen online
A 32-year-old man pleaded guilty to indecent solicitation of a child and was sentenced to one year in prison, court records show.
Randy Overla, who authorities say lives in Buffalo Grove but whose address is listed in court records as Phoenix, Ariz., received credit for 90 days in custody. The judge also ordered him to register as a sex offender for 10 years, records show.
Cook County prosecutors say Overla responded on Jan. 19 to a posting on a social networking site he believed was from a 15-year-old Berwyn girl. Overla and the "girl" communicated through email and text messages in which Overla described explicit sex acts in which he wanted the girl to participate, prosecutors said.
Police arrested Overla on Jan. 21 when he went to meet the "girl" at a Berwyn high school.
Overla must complete at least 50 percent of his sentence before he is eligible for parole.
